March overview

The ocean in March

March is a transition month. The Indian Ocean is typically still settled, Central America remains dry, and Atlantic islands start to feel spring-like. It is a good month for travellers who want winter-sun conditions without peak-holiday crowds.

Climate and conditions

The Maldives and Sri Lanka’s south coast are generally still in their drier season; Costa Rica’s dry season continues. Madeira’s winter swell is typically still active.

For European travellers

Outside school holidays, March can offer a premium experience with fewer crowds. Easter sometimes falls late in March. Check your dates.
